Galician teachers say enough. With the measures contemplated in the protocol of return to the classrooms of the Xunta de Galicia, they understand that the safety of the educational community is not guaranteed and, therefore, The unions call two days of strikes: on September 10, the day on which the course in nursery and primary education should begin, and on September 16, when classes in secondary school are scheduled to begin.
The CIGa, CCOO, STEGa and CSIF are the convening unions, they argue that they are tired of the Xunta not having responded to their claims, and they regret that there has not been any kind of dialogue despite the mobilizations this summer. Therefore, in this context, they consider that the only way to increase pressure is to call a strike.
“We are not talking about working conditions, but about a question of security,” they defend, while warning that starting the course under the conditions that the Xunta intends, without extending the distance between tables to a meter and a half, without reinforcing the teaching staff and without reducing the ratios of students per classroom, is a “recklessness”.
They add that “the duties have not been fulfilled” and deny the Ministry of Education, which hides behind the fact that it defends presence. “To defend presence, security must be guaranteed“they insist.
In addition, they will encourage teachers to gather at the doors of the centers to take the protests to social networks, with the slogan “School against Covid.”
