The number of troubled children at De Springplank primary school has now grown to a quarter of all students. Not only have there been more in a short period of time, the problems and disadvantages of the 4- to 6-year-olds are also much more serious. Their parents have financial problems, language delays, stress due to a divorce, are unemployed at home and sometimes there is domestic violence. “We see that in the children,” says Sharon Schouwenaar, director of the primary school in Leidschendam.
