A teacher has died of her injuries after a knife attack at a college in the German city of Hamm. It concerns a 30-year-old woman from Essen.
A man attacked several people with a knife on Friday in Hamm, a town near Dortmund in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Three 22-year-old students were injured. The teacher was in such bad shape that she was taken to a hospital by helicopter. She died there yesterday. One of the students is still in hospital with stab wounds.
The 34-year-old man broke into the school building in the afternoon and started stabbing at those present. Then he walked to a lecture hall, where he attacked the teacher in front of more than a hundred students. The man was overpowered by students. They held him until police arrived and apprehended the attacker.
The suspect has since been admitted to a psychiatric hospital. He mistook the people in the school for members of a group that wanted to kill him. The man has previously been admitted to a psychiatric clinic and is known to the police.
