TCL has launched two new phones, both featuring the revolutionary Nxtpaper display technology
The basic TCL 40 Nxtpaper will be available in two months for CZK 6,499 including VAT
TCL has introduced a brand new series of mobile phones that rely on a revolutionary color display of electronic paper technology. The TCL 40 Nxtpaper model and its 5G variant will go on sale in October. The phone will also be available on the Czech market.
TCL 40 basic equipment
The basic TCL 40 Nxtpaper comes with a nice back design and a large photo module. It houses a trio of cameras: 50 Mpx main, 5 Mpx wide-angle and 2 Mpx macro. The battery has a capacity of 5,010 mAh and you can recharge it with a power of up to 33 W. In terms of processing power, the basic model works with a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and Android 13.
The camera has a TCL 40 triple
In contrast, the 5G variant definitely has more than just improved connectivity. The main powerful unit is the MediaTek Dimensity 6020, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, there is also a 5000mAh battery, but only with 15W charging. The rear set of cameras includes a 50 Mpx main camera, a 2 Mpx macro and a 2 Mpx additional sensor. The selfie camera is only 8 Mpx, in the basic variant 40 Nxtpaper it is even 32 Mpx.
Revolutionary Nxtpaper technology
However, the most interesting thing is the displays. Both models come with a special Nxtpaper panel, which creates the feeling of reading from paper when viewing the phone screen. The screen has a matte texture, so it offers very comfortable reading in direct sunlight, and it also supports black and white mode. The main thing is that, thanks to its e-paper technology, it protects the eyes from unnecessarily sharp backlighting and blue light.
This is the umpteenth product with TCL Nxtpaper technology
However, Nxtpaper technology does not prevent screens from using the classic functions of modern displays. The basic model therefore comes with a 6.78″ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution at a 20.5:9 ratio. There is also a hole in the upper part. In contrast, the TCL 40 Nxtpaper 5G works with a 6.6″ display with a 90Hz frequency, but a lower HD+ resolution.
Price and availability
According to official information, the TCL 40 Nxtpaper will go on sale in the Czech Republic at the end of October 2023 at a price of CZK 6,499 including VAT. The package should also include a flip case and a T-Pen stylus. Its 5G variant will not be offered on the Czech market, you can get it elsewhere in Europe for 249 euros (ie less than 6 thousand crowns).
The TCL 40 phones are a new addition to the Nxtpaper product family, which TCL already has several tablets, a work notebook and a monitor.
