Now it’s getting tight for TC Bad Vilbel. After defeats against Pforzheim and in Ludwigshafen, the Wetterau are third from bottom in the 2nd Bundesliga.
It will be a very close race in the fight to stay up in the 2nd Tennis Bundesliga South. After the two defeats at the weekend, TC Bad Vilbel is in seventh place. The eighth and ninth must dismount. In the long-distance duel with TC Würzburg, which has the same number of points, the match points can count on Sunday. Vilbel is currently ahead of the curve here. Würzburg has to go to TC Augsburg Siebentisch. The Wetterauer receive the TC Ismaning.
TC Bad Vilbel – TC Pforzheim 4:5: The game on Friday only ended at 11 p.m. After several interruptions due to rain, it had become too dark on the outdoor courts. In the doubles, the first set was played when the protagonists moved indoors – and thus to a different surface. The Spaniard Inaki Montes De la Torre made his debut for Vilbel. “He played well in second place,” praised TCBV sports director Marco Ockernahl. Nevertheless, he lost his singles. The hosts collected their match points in first and sixth place. Alberto Barroso-Campos won smoothly, Calvin Müller got the champions tiebreak. However, that was not enough before the doubles, all of which would have had to be won in order to win overall. The matches of Hendrik Jebens/Jakub Nicod and Niklas Schell/Tim Büttner both went into the third set. When the opponents of Jebens/Nicod converted the match point to 10:8, Pforzheim’s success was on record.
In shorthand / single: Barroso-Campos – Jahn 6:4, 6:4; Montes De la Torre – Cid Subervi 2:6, 4:6; Schell – Zahraj 7:5, 1:6, 9:11; Jebens-Belotti 5:7, 4:6; Nicod – Fix 4:6, 2:6; Müller – Willems 6: 7, 6: 4, 10: 8. / Doubles: Barroso-Campos/Montes De la Torre – Zahraj/Martos Gornes 6-2, 6-1; Jebens/Nicod – Jahn/Rühl 6:2, 3:6, 8:10; Schell/Büttner – Fix/Olivetti 6:3, 6:7, 10:8.
TC Ludwigshafen – TC Bad Vilbel 6:3: “That was a good game from us. You can’t say anything about that. If you compare the opponents’ ATP positions with ours, we’re simply the outsiders,” Ockernahl summed up. Especially in sixth place, he saw chances for a better result. However, newcomer Adrian Obert was left behind by a hair’s breadth and lost in the champions’ tie-break of the third set.
On the Wetterauer side, Hendrik Jebens (picture) was once again convincing. He was able to win his singles in two close rounds and also kept the upper hand in the doubles alongside Tim Büttner. With 3:2 in singles and 4:1 in doubles, he is the only player from Vilbel who has a positive match record. The nominal number one in the TCBV squad, the Australian Tristan Schoolkate, has not yet been used. He will also miss the decisive match in Ismaning, as sporting director Ockernahl said.
