Jakarta – Defense Minister (Minister of Defense) Prabowo Subianto to form a Special Guard Detachment of the Ministry of Defense (Denwalsus Ministry of Defense). Member of Commission I DPR, Maj. Gen. TNI (Ret.) TB Hasanuddin, considered the formation of the Ministry of Defense Denwalsus excessive.
“The Ministry of Defense is the same as other ministries, that is the status of a ‘civil’ ministry. For internal security, each ministry may make its own efforts, as in the State Secretariat it is called Pamdal (internal security) or elsewhere with other names,” said TB Hasanuddin in his statement, Saturday (10/4/2021).
TB Hasanuddin assessed that the formation of a special unit at the Ministry of Defense for escort was excessive and not in accordance with the provisions of the escort. He said that if there was a special need, he could coordinate with the TNI-Polri.
“The formation of a special unit at the Ministry of Defense is not in accordance with these provisions and is excessive. If there is a special need, it is better if you just coordinate with the TNI / Polri,” he said.
Furthermore, TB Hasanuddin said that if the guard was at the level of the president, there would already be Paspampres ranks. In addition, ministerial level escort is also the responsibility of the Police VVIP Pam. He said the Defense Ministry’s Denwalsus could potentially go unused later.
“For protocol matters, if there are foreign guests at the level of the President, it has been arranged by the Paspampres both their escorts and their ranks of honor. Foreign guests at ministerial level who come to Indonesia are the responsibility of the Police VVIP Pam. Prot (protocol company at TNI Headquarters). The General Blue Head of the Ministry of Defense only needs to coordinate with Danden TNI Headquarters, “he said.
As is known, Prabowo Subianto formed the Ministry of Defense’s Special Guard Detachment (Denwalsus Kemenhan). This Denwalsus is a special force to escort the Minister of Defense to the VVIP guest of the Ministry of Defense.
This was revealed by Prabowo’s adjutant, Rizky Irmansyah, in his personal Instagram account @rizky_irmansyah, Friday (9/4). Rizky posted a video of soldiers in marches marching, in the description of his post, Rizky said that the soldiers were Denwalsus of the Ministry of Defense.
“They are the Ministry of Defense’s Special Guard Detachment (Denwalsus) formed by the Minister of Defense Pak Prabowo Subianto. They are trained, forged, educated at Batu Jajar Kopassus Education and Training Center in West Java,” said Rizky.
The duties of Denwalsus are to guard and maintain the security of the Ministry of Defense, the Minister of Defense, special guests of the Ministry of Defense and the welcoming ceremony of the honorary ranks of state guests.
“These troops are selected and directly elected by the Minister of Defense, each personnel is equipped with VVIP guard and escort capabilities, domestic and foreign guest reception patterns and of course other capabilities that I cannot describe,” he said.
