Taylor Swift gets a special welcome in Brazil. The famous Christ statue in Rio de Janeiro was illuminated for the singer with a projection, making it appear as if the statue was wearing a shirt with the text “Welcome to Brasil”.
Swift is in Rio de Janeiro for her world tour. The 33-year-old singer will give her first of three performances in the city on Friday. Next weekend she has three more performances in Brazil, then in São Paulo.
Swift’s fans had launched a campaign calling for her to be given a fitting welcome in the South American country. The caretaker of the famous statue has responded to that call and is asking fans for donations in return.
The projected clothing shirt refers to the shirt that the singer wears in her music video You Belong With Me. It also contains the names of all states in Brazil.
