Taylor Swift’s $100 Million Deal with Bankrupt FTX Cryptocurrency Exchange

The world-famous American musician Taylor Swift had agreed to become the face of the bankrupt FTX, a company that misappropriates customers’ money, but the side of the cryptocurrency exchange thought that the requested $100 million was too much, according to CNN.

Multiple Grammy Award winner and extremely popular musician Swift, or rather her business managers, had agreed to a deal to promote the cryptocurrency exchange FTX.

The amount of the transaction was around 100 million US dollars. It is mentioned that if the deal were to go through, one of the ways Swift would promote cryptocurrencies and FTX would be a collection of NFTs tied to concert tickets. The news about this deal has been public before, but now the media has disclosed the amount for which the negotiations took place.

Swift’s side was fine with the deal, but it was FTX that refused because the asking amount seemed too high.

It should be recalled that last year FTX, which was the world leader of US cryptocurrencies, collapsed within a couple of days. It was then revealed that its manager, Sam Benkman-Fried, had misappropriated customer money by investing it in other projects.

Bankman-Fried, who appeared in a US court in December, faces numerous charges. The most serious of them are related to fraud, embezzlement and even money laundering. As the cryptocurrency media “Coindesk” wrote, the US government does not treat Bankman-Frieda as a “prodigy” accidentally involved in crime, but as a hardened financial criminal.

Celebrities who have endorsed FTX have included Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, Stephen Curry and Naomi Osaka. Brady and Bundchen also owned shares in FTX.

Celebrities who have backed FTX and other cryptocurrency projects in recent years, including Jimmy Fallon, Madonna and Kim Kardashian, have come under the scrutiny of law enforcement and, according to CNN, are accused of lending credibility to risky cryptocurrency products.

Last year, US watchdogs accused socialite Kardashian of promoting the cryptocurrency asset Ethereum Max. Kardashian agreed to pay a $1.3 million fine.
