Taylor Swift made history at the 2024 Grammy Awards by winning Album of the Year for her album “Midnights.” This win marked her fourth victory in this category, making her the artist with the most wins in Grammy history. Swift also took home the award for Best Pop Vocal Album and surprised the audience by announcing the release of her next album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” on April 19.
SZA, who had received the most nominations this year with nine, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year, had previously only won one Grammy in her career. However, she quickly added to her collection by winning Best R&B Song early in the program.
The Grammy Awards were held at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena and were hosted by comedian and former “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah for the fourth consecutive year. The event was broadcasted live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.

Rapper Killer Mike had a successful night, winning all three awards he was nominated for: Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album. However, his night took a turn when he was seen being escorted out of the ceremony by police officers. The LAPD later clarified that the incident was unrelated to the Grammy Awards and he was charged with a misdemeanor.
Folk music legend Joni Mitchell, who recently recovered from a brain aneurysm in 2015, won her 10th Grammy for Best Folk Album with “Live at Newport.” She also delivered a moving performance of her iconic song “Both Sides, Now,” marking her first-ever performance at the Grammy Awards.
The evening also saw awards given to soundtracks from popular films. “Barbie” won Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, while “Oppenheimer” took home the award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. Billie Eilish and Finneas received Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media for their track “What Was I Made For?” from the film “Barbie.”
