“She is the only artist in history to have won the music industry’s top accolade, the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, three times over.” The university also noted the singer’s numerous other accolades, hailing Swift as “the only solo artist of this century , which hit number one with three albums in one year.”

Long-awaited graduation

The May 18 ceremonies are held for the graduates of the last three years. In the last two years, graduations could not take place because of Corona.

According to NYU, five additional honorary doctorates will be awarded for graduates in the last three years. Another recipient is the activist Judith Heumann (74), who has been campaigning for the rights of people with disabilities for decades. She previously tweeted that she was particularly excited to be speaking at the ceremony with Taylor Swift.
