Taylor Swift Concert Film: An Up-Close Experience for Fans

Ticket for 600 euros?

The pop star exudes such euphoria during his show that the mood is easily transferred through the screen to the Swiftie audience. For some German fans, the dream will come true next year when Taylor Swift tours Europe. Many others didn’t manage to get tickets when they went on sale. 15-year-old Leni, who came to the premiere with her friends, revealed before the event that she had to spend over 600 euros to get a ticket. “But I will definitely do it,” she is determined.

If you don’t want to spend the price of a month’s rent for the concert, you could find a real alternative in the concert film. You get to experience Taylor’s performance up close in the truest sense of the word. Through the various camera installations, you can see the star from all angles, sitting virtually right next to her at the piano, discovering the beads of sweat on her face and the peeling nail polish on her fingernails.

And the show is also impressive on the screen. With each era, Taylor appears on stage in a new outfit and with lots of energy, each song has its own lovingly constructed stage design and the sound experience is captivating. Between songs, the pop star delivers self-deprecating monologues that make her seem approachable and down-to-earth despite the fact that she’s playing in front of a huge, fully booked stadium.

Nobody stays seated anymore

In her different eras, the star proves her versatility. She appears dreamy, mysterious, angry, vengeful, in love and thoughtful. And the audience joins in. So during the song “marjorie” everyone almost religiously holds up their smartphones with flashlights. And of course there is applause in the cinema after every song. This is particularly loud when Taylor announces that she is going to sing her ten-minute song “All Too Well”. At this point the circle closes with the young woman in the red scarf. (“And I left my scarf there at your sister’s house. And you’ve still got it in your drawer even now.”)

From Taylor Swift’s hymn to her haters, “Shake it Off” from the “1989” album era, no one sits in the cinema anymore, there is lots of dancing. Finally, Taylor performs songs from her current album “Midnights” in a dark blue glitter suit. The concert film ends with “Karma”. And even though Taylor has been singing and dancing for three hours, she doesn’t seem the least bit tired. The fans in the cinema also insisted on singing with their idol until the end. Taylor looks proudly into the crowd once again, as if she herself couldn’t quite comprehend the extent of her fame, bows and leaves the screen. Deafening applause booms from the Munich cinema.
