Olivia Rodrigo (20) comments on the long-standing, fan-driven conspiracy theory that she and Taylor Swift (33) are secretly fighting.
Several foreign media indicate that there are several conspirators in social media who are convinced that there may be a secret hostility between the two artists.
Grammy winner Olivia Rodrigo was asked about the alleged feud with Swift in a major interview with Rolling Stone published Tuesday. Then she was ready in her speech:
– I have not “beefbeefThe word is often used when you have an argument or disagreement with someone. » with someone, Rodrigo replies, reproduced by Variety.
Furthermore, the Grammy winner says that she does not pay attention to the drama in social media, and is very “chill”.
– I have my four friends and my mum, and they are really the only ones I talk to. There is nothing to say. There are so many Twitter conspiracy theories. I only look at alien conspiracy theories.
– Always looked up to Taylor
Since his teens, Rodrigo has been known as an actor for various series on the Disney Channel.
But when she came out with her debut single “Drivers License” as an 18-year-old, she broke records – and went directly below two of Swift’s songs on iTunes.
“Right next to Taylor on the US iTunes chart USA, I’m sobbing”she wrote to screenshot on Instagram.
Swift responded to the post by commenting, among other things, that she is “very proud”, followed by several emojis.
Since then, Rodrigo has stated several times in interviews that Swift is her childhood hero.
– I’ve always looked up to Taylor since I was literally five years old. Of course I think she is the best songwriter of all time, she said in an interview with NME i 2021.
This is the speculation
Several reasons for the alleged feud are speculated. One of the reasons Rolling Stone points to, is when Rodrigo released the album “Sour” in 2021. That’s when listeners noticed similarities between her song “Deja Vu” and Swift’s “Cruel Summer.”
This ultimately ended with Rodrigo opting to give songwriting credit to both Swift, Jack Antonoff and St. Vincent – although it was unclear if they required it, according to The Guardian.

There was also earlier fan speculation that “Vampire,” the lead single from her second album “Guts,” was about Swift.
– I was very surprised when people believed that, she said The Guardian.
Furthermore, she said that she will never say who any of her songs are about, and that she will never do it either.
