Due to the threat of terrorism, Taylor Swift’s three concerts in Vienna have been cancelled. The organiser announced this.

Shocking news for Viennese Swifties: Pop star Taylor Swift, 34, was actually supposed to play three concerts in the Austrian capital between August 8th and 10th, but now the shows have been cancelled. The reason is apparently a planned terrorist attack. The organiser, Barracuda Music, announced this on Wednesday evening (August 7th).

In a Statement on Instagram it says: “Due to confirmation by government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.” Swift’s management also shared the statement in his Instagram story.

Two arrests on suspicion of terrorism

As reported by ORF, among othersa few hours earlier, arrests had been made in Lower Austria during a major operation. Two people, including a 19-year-old, were arrested for planning attacks on events in the greater Vienna area. The authorities had then initially announced increased security measures for the three Swift concerts.

According to the newspaper “Der Standard” There were concrete preparatory actions for a terrorist attack – with a focus on the Taylor Swift concerts that were supposed to take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Concerts will apparently not be rescheduled

Taylor Swift herself has not yet commented on the cancellation of her three concerts. These were supposed to be her last three shows on the European mainland before Swift concludes the European part of her “Eras Tour” with five concerts in London.

The concerts in Vienna will apparently not be rescheduled for the time being. As Barracuda Music writes, all tickets will be “automatically refunded within the next ten working days”.
