In a context of inflation like the current one, it is to be expected that a service such as the taxi, in which even its raw material has become more expensive, will raise its fares. However, these alleged increases have not been made in the same way in all territories, and in fact there are many places where the taxi service has not increased its cost compared to the year 2021.
This is one of the conclusions reached by the organization Facua – Consumers in actionwho played his ‘one more year’Comparative study of taxi fares in 57 Spanish cities‘.
A) Yes, Tarragona yes San Sebastian are, together with Madrid (which takes the podium this year), the cities with the most expensive urban taxi fares. Conversely, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Ceuta are the cheapest, while in the peninsula Cadiz it is repeated as the one with the lowest prices.
To arrive at these results, the organization analyzed the November rates in 57 Spanish cities (including provincial capitals, capitals of autonomous communities and cities with the largest number of inhabitants). Once selected, the costs of the different routes considered were simulated (minimum travel or 1 km of travel, 5 km of travel and 10 km of travel, all day, night and weekend night). And with all this, he scored the price of each of the routes.
On average, the price per kilometer has increased by 2.2% during the day and in the a 1.9% during the night hours.
39 cities have increased their prices
Among all the cities analyzed, 39 of the 57 raised their rates in 2022 compared to what they had the previous year. The largest increases, considering the three routes analyzed by the association, occurred in badajoz (17.5 %), logrono (12 %), Ceuta (10.7%) a Merida (8.4%).
In general terms, Tarragona and San Sebastián are the cities, both with 70 points (out of a total of 90), where the taxi is more expensive.
