Five people were injured this Tuesday after a runaway taxi collided with six vehicles in the center of Coimbra. The taxi driver and a customer, aged 46 and 37, respectively, were in serious condition. The other injured, who suffered minor injuries, are two women, aged 75 and 53, and a 51-year-old man.
The accident happened on the way down Avenida Elísio de Moura, next to the PSP in Coimbra. The taxi continued to honk in order to alert other drivers who were circulating on both roads in the same direction, but it was unable to avoid a collision with six vehicles. Two of the vehicles overturned.
In helping the victims, 30 firefighters and volunteers from Coimbra, the Portuguese Red Cross, INEM and the PSP were involved.
