Taxi BCN: IMET and Caixabank agreement to extend the pledged loans by 12 months

The Metropolitan Taxi Institute (IMET in Barcelona, ​​dependent on the AMB, has reached an agreement with the CaixaBank entity.

The financial credit institution will contemplate a 12-month grace period of the capital subscribed by each taxi driver and the possibility of extending the term of their loan for 12 months that directly affects the license of the taxi in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Barcelona.

In this context, and as reported by the IMET, each affected taxi driver will receive personalized attention.

The IMET reached an agreement with CaixaBank this morning of September 9 to individually resolve the different situations of professionals in the taxi sector affected by a loan with pledge of the license.

This agreement was reached in the framework of a meeting in which, in addition to those responsible for the IMET and the bank, representatives of the taxi associations attended.

CaixaBank will provide personalized solutions to each client

The agreement consists of granting a twelve-month grace period for the subscribed capital and the possibility of extending the term of the loan by 12 months, regardless of whether the operation is guaranteed by Avalis.

As reported by the IMET, the managers of the CaixaBank branches will contact their clients according to the expiration of the moratoriums and, for this purpose, a support team will strengthen the branches to be able to serve all the taxi drivers.

Finally, CaixaBank will set up a special risk and control circuit to streamline the processing of these operations.

Rosa Alarcón, president of IMET, welcomed the agreement reached with the entity:

«The taxi sector is essential for mobility in Barcelona and its metropolitan area, and represents more than 10,000 families who are having a hard time due to the pandemic, for this reason we must get involved in these moments of crisis, as well as it is doing with other economic sectors ».

In the IMET registry there are currently almost 3,200 licenses pledged in different banking entities.

The amount of the loan, the cancellation time and the possibility of facing your payment is as different as the number of taxi drivers who pledge their license.
