Tax return. The taxman warns of a new scam

Like each start of reporting campaign, taxpayers are the target of scammers. While the tax return has been launched since April 7, 2022the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP) again warns against scams.

Two scams have already been noticed by the public service, which calls for vigilance. The scammers are indeed trying to pass through the DGFiP. Some websites thus refer to fraudulent numbers to reach the Public Finances Centre. Surcharged, they start with 0 899 or 0 891.

However, contacting the Public Finance Centers is free. The only valid numbers start with 01, 02, 03, 04 or 05 depending on your department, but it is also possible to contact them via a single non-surcharged number (price of a local call), at 0 809 401 401.

Beware of fraudulent emails

The tax authorities also warn against a recurring scam by email, which has particularly targeted businesses since the end of June. Addresses impersonating the DGFiP send fraudulent e-mails requesting personal or even banking information, in particular through requests for attachments.

Attention should be paid to all the details and signs that reveal the deception, such as the sender’s email address or spelling or syntax errors.

In order to avoid scams, the DGFiP reminds you that it is always possible to contact its services to request confirmation of the request received, whether it comes from an email or a telephone number.
