From Friday, August 9th until midnight on Sunday, August 11th, people in Texas have the opportunity to shop tax-free for back-to-school items such as clothing, footwear, and school supplies that cost no more than $100.
Purchases can be made in Texas stores, online or through a catalog. However, the tax exemption only applies to certain items such as clothing, footwear, school supplies, masks and backpacks, for example.
For online purchases and phone orders, the item must be purchased during the period mentioned above. The purchase date is easy to determine when the purchase is made in the store, but it becomes more complicated.
In this case of online purchase, to enjoy the tax exemption, payment for the item must be made within the allowed period, even if the item cannot be delivered until after the weekend is over.
