Taufik Hidayat’s Criticism of the Men’s Singles Achievement that Continues to Decline

Jakarta

Indonesian badminton legend Taufik Hidayat assessing the achievements of the Pelatnas men’s singles PBSI drop. He also hopes that this problem will be resolved soon.

It is not without reason that the 2004 Athens Olympic gold medalist said so. In the last year Anthony Ginting et al have not been able to win the title, especially in the 1000 level individual tournament.

The only title won Jonathan Christie, that was at the level of 300 Swiss Open 2022. Meanwhile, Anthony had to settle for coming out as a semifinalist. Even Shesar Hiren Rhustavito wasn’t doing any better. He was immediately eliminated in the first round.

“The men’s singles, if you can say it, is decreasing day by day. In a sense, we only do not have men’s singles coaches, (even though) there are actually many coaches. The consideration is whether they (PBSI) know. Because in calling players and coaches I also don’t involved,” said Taufik in the Senayan area, Jakarta, Thursday (14/4/2022).

Taufik himself did not deny that the men’s singles was one of the contributors to the points when winning the Thomas Cup after 19 years of failing to win. However, that is not a guarantee of achievement Anthony Ginting Cs became stable at the individual level.

“So this year, some of the players should have been in the super 1000 and compete with the top players,” he continued.

“Now there is no coach, in a month, we want the Thomas cup. What’s wrong? I hope there is a solution, because for example other jobs can be withdrawn, but athletes can’t go back,” he continued. Taufik Hidayat.

For the record, the main men’s singles is currently designed by Irwansyah. He automatically became the sole coach after Hendry Saputra, the previous head coach of the Pelatnas men’s singles, was not extended by PBSI. He was removed after seven years in that position.
