The name of the Indonesian badminton legend, Taufik Hidayat in recent times it has become a public discussion for badminton lovers (BL) in Malaysia and Indonesia. The reason is, there is a statement that the former world number one badminton player made BL Malaysia ‘hurt’.
The problem stems from being awarded the Hall of Fame from the Badminton World Federation alias BWF which is the Badminton World Federation. There are two names who received the honor of the award, namely Lin Dan dan Lee Chong Wei.
The entry of the name Lee Chong Wei was then criticized by Taufik Hidayat. The story begins with a YouTube video showing Valentino Simanjuntak on May 14, 2023.
At that time Valentino asked Taufik Hidayat for comments regarding the importance of the Hall of Fame for the Athens Olympic gold medalist.

“For me or not, it’s an important achievement for me. Achievements are determined by myself, for Hall of Fame, that’s determined by people, just give them away,” he said.
He then continued by comparing Lee Chong Wei with Lin Dan in the context of achievements in badminton.
“It’s certain that all netizens have pros and cons. In a sense, Lee Chong Wei and I have been pitted against each other again. Why not TH (Taufik Hidayat)? Why Lee Chong Wei, if Lin Dan is fine.”
“That means, I also always recognize Lin Dan Olympic twice, world championship, Asian Games, blah blah blah. I’m the ‘oh yes it’s normal for him’. Even if Lin Dan isn’t there, for example I’ll be appointed. I said, ‘uh, there is something more appropriate, for example A’. That’s it,” Taufik explained.
“Now people compare me to Lee Chong Wei, I say, yes, it’s okay, maybe he is more appropriate according to BWF. Because he gave it, right? Incidentally, BWF has an office in Malaysia, yes, please, that’s it. I’m not really important, it’s just writing. What are you going to do?” said Taufik.

Because of this, Taufik Hidayat’s social media was then attacked by badminton fans from the neighboring country. Even so, long before that, he revealed a scandal that had never been uncovered before.
This was revealed in the Vindes talk show. At that time, Taufik Hidayat revealed that he had been offered a large amount of money to give up on Lee Chong Wei, to be precise during the 2006 Asian Games.
“The 2006 Asian Games in Qatar, Lee Chong Wei didn’t know what the problem was, everyone didn’t know. He knew he was just playing. But the person he was, he asked for my phone number, to meet me like that. Finally he came,” he said as seen by Suara Deli.
At that time, Lee Chong Wei’s person intended to reward Taufik so that he would give up the men’s singles player, the pride of Malaysia.

During the 2006 Asian Games, Taufik also managed to defend the gold medal and Lee Chong Wei only won bronze.
