Taufik Hidayat decided to resign from management PBSI as an expert staff in the field of performance coaching. His opinion was never heard to be one of the reasons.
Taufik is included in the PBSI management structure for the leadership of Agung Firman Sampurna for the 2020-2024 term of service. He himself decided to accept PBSI’s proposal because it was in accordance with his expertise, and hoped to make changes.
However, two months later, the 2004 Athens Olympic gold medalist felt he was not being considered. In fact, every suggestion was not heard.
“There are a lot. There are also some where the inter problem has not been involved for a year. So I said goodbye to PBSI by sending a letter and going straight to it on good terms. I mean, there’s me or not, PBSI will continue and it won’t have any effect either ,” said Taufik in a talk show, Thursday (14/4/2022).
“So it’s better for me. For me, I have a name, following badminton there are big names. I don’t want to be just a display but can’t contribute further,” he said.
Furthermore, the husband of Ami Gumelar said that the decision to resign was not due to a single problem. It’s just repeated mistakes.
“It’s been several times, so it’s continued. Coincidentally, there was an old board member too, it happened again and again. I was never asked for input on official matters, official meetings, decided something official,” he revealed.
“Well, the last problem was that the last National Selection was not involved, the issue of wanting to enter and relegating the coach was not involved either. Those are the most crucial things but they were not discussed.”
“It’s okay, I also don’t want to, it’s a shame that the name is just for display. It’s better not to be there (PBSI). Outside, you can contribute in other places too,” said Taufik Hidayat.
“Still in the sense of criticizing how to build it to make it even better. Hopefully with me not being there, they don’t have a burden, they are better too. So I also don’t want my presence to interfere with their work,” he emphasized.
Taufik also admitted that he did not regret his decision. After all, all this time he was not looking for work from sports.
“It’s up to PBSI to be good or not, they are doing it. There is no longer any responsibility. After all, I was there, for example, PBSI was thankfully good. If God forbid it turned bad, I would be involved too. I don’t want to,” said Taufik.
“Outsiders don’t know either. It’s better not to be there (PBSI). After all, by not being PBSI, can still dedication in badminton, in the area too. If you want to look at it, I think that’s enough, too much dedication through badminton for Indonesia, it’s just the right time to play. Right now, I’m not looking for a job from sports either, I’m not looking for food there either, in fact I have good input if it’s heard, if not, what are you going to do?”
