Taufik Hidayat mention Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is a complete package player, unfortunately these advantages are often not matched by consistency.
This was conveyed by Taufik assessing Anthony Ginting’s current game. Ginting himself just won the title at the 2023 Asian Championship, Dubai, at the end of last April.
This achievement broke the men’s singles drought at the Asian Championships since the last time in 2007. At that time, Taufik Hidayat was the winner.
“Actually Ginting that’s complete. He is already at the top level, but if I see him he is not stable physically and mentally. However, from a technical point of view, he is quite good,” said Taufik when met in the South Jakarta area, on Tuesday (2/5/2023).
“There is the role of the team on the side, behind, the coach, the physical trainer is his team, why? How come there won’t be a champion here, it goes up and down like that. If you look at it now, it’s the most stable, right (Viktor) Axelsen, right in the championship final, the final champion if the others are still fluctuating,” he continued.
Taufik also assessed that even though Ginting is currently in second place, it does not mean that Ginting is a stable player.
“In my opinion, we only take part in a lot of matches, the others don’t participate, automatically (ranking) goes up by itself. What we want to see is stability in one competition to win. It has to be at the same level as Ginting,” he said.
“Therefore, the support team must also be strong, whether the physical trainers, technical trainers, especially now that there is sports science. Does that support or not, is it optimal or not? We don’t know, only PSBI knows,” Taufik stressed.
