Tatum shines, scores 54 points

BOSTON.- The striker Jayson Tatum was lit on the court to shine with 54 points to help the Celtics win yesterday 123-117 a los Nets.

Tatum, 24, tied the record in the history of the legendary NBA franchise with four games with at least 50 points owned by historic forward Larry Bird, considered the Celtics’ best player.

This is what I dreamed of when I was a child. I worked my whole life to get here (to the NBA). Obviously I have a long way to go before I achieve what I want to achieve, but I stay in the moment and enjoy doing what I love every day,” Tatum said after the win.

Yesterday’s was the Celtics’ fourteenth win in their last 16 games and they climb to fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 39 wins and 27 losses.

Tatum’s display blocked a Brooklyn team that welcomed star performers Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to the starting lineup for just the fourth time this season, a tough one for both.

Durant finished with 37 points, while Irving added 19 points for the Nets.

Boston’s balanced offense enjoyed a productive afternoon with all five starters recording double-digit scoring.

Jaylen Brown added 21 points while Marcus Smart finished with 14 points. Al Horford (13 points) and Robert Williams III (10) completed most of the scoring for the hosts.

It’s fun the way we play,” Tatum added. “Obviously we have been on a good run. We are just having fun, competing. It wasn’t always pretty today, but everyone contributed. And those are the best victories.”
