The young Malovcic family has offspring, the old woman Kirschner (Friederike Frerichs) has lived in the house for almost 60 years, Jenny Nowack (Berit Künnecke) is a single parent, her children have friends in the neighborhood, her ex-husband Micha Kowalski (Timo Jacobs) already lives on the street and Peter de Boer (Tijmen Govaerts) hardly earns anything as a freelance journalist. He fights in the social networks against the injustice on the Berlin housing market.

When the junior boss of the real estate company, Cem Ceylan (Murat Dikenci), lies dead in front of the house, the Berlin homicide squad has a new case. Rubin (Meret Becker) and Karow (Mark Waschke) investigate in Corona times in the apartment building in Wedding. The two inspectors are confronted with the Berlin rent madness and the existential concern of people for their “third skin”, the four walls in which they live and which are more than their home.

Is it worth turning on the Berlin tenement crime thriller?

Yes. Because the mixture of increasingly unaffordable rents, greedy homeowners, demolitions, evictions, luxury renovations and the like ensures real drama and crime in big cities. “If you live in Berlin, you can’t avoid renting. The fight for an affordable apartment is increasing,” confirms screenwriter Katrin Bühlig.
