PRAGUE – Ugh, that must have hurt! The acting profession often requires performances at the limit of possibilities. Today’s jubilant Taťjana Medvecká was convinced of this already at the beginning of her career.
Taťjana Medvecká was born on November 10, 1953, her mother came from western Slovakia. Even as a child, she was engaged in dancing and reciting. She later decided to study acting.
She was accepted to DAMU from the second year of high school and graduated from college in 1975.

Already during her studies, she was a guest at the National Theater in Prague and later became its permanent member. She also guested on other theater stages.

She made her debut in front of the cameras in the film Osvobození Prahy. She played a prisoner who escapes from the transport in Terezín. Director Otakar Vávra told her that she had to run for her life. And so she ran… “But I didn’t realize that I should save my energy, because the cameras and the sound take a long time to rehearse for the film. I was completely done in the evening,” the actress once revealed.
Unfortunately, the filmed material was destroyed and the scene had to be repeated again. “I crawled to the set, where even the director wanted to arrange for me to be sprayed, because I could hardly go down the stairs due to persistent muscle fatigue. We started shooting, but man thinks and God changes. I started and suddenly I felt as if axes were going into both of my thighs, and I went to the ground.” she described the difficult filming. In the hospital, she subsequently learned that she had torn both thigh muscles.
Medvecká also starred in films such as Marečka, hand me a pen, Virgin and Monster, Castle in Bohemia, Bathory, Burning Bush, Fair Play, Hiding in the Zoo, Children of Nagana. She appeared in the TV series Zlá krev, Circus Humberto, What now and what then?, Hospital on the outskirts of the city after twenty years, Police Modrava, The first republic, Up to the ears, MOST!, or Two to kill.
