“She is a woman who is in a crisis situation because her husband died. In addition, every day he loses the job he loves, so he suddenly feels that his life is ending,” Medvecká outlined her role.

The film Common Failure unfolds the stories of three women of different generations against the background of an apocalyptic event. Rather than science fiction, however, it is a psychological portrait of women going through various crises. In the case of the character played by Medvecká, she faces the fear of old age, the arrival of which she does not want to admit.
–
Medvecká also shares a similar defiance of uncompromising aging with the character: “I would say that it is a great will to defy age and not admit it. I probably don’t want to admit to myself that I can inspire pity, compassion and caution anymore, because that age is here, after all,” she mentioned the closeness with the film character.
–
Just like her character, who takes care of, for example, a robotic dog in the film, Medvecká also tries to stay close to modern technologies and can share her enthusiasm for them.
–
“For example, I’m fascinated by the ease with which my grandchildren get hold of it. Or maybe the day before yesterday I drove an electric car for the first time, a Tesla, and I was like in Jiřík’s vision,” she mentioned with enthusiasm.

“Either you let yourself be beaten by the fact that the world is completely different and you don’t understand anything at all, or you enjoy it. Well, I’m probably the type who admires it, enjoys it, and I just hope it doesn’t turn into any bad endings,” Medvecká added.

The crisis of motherhood
Taťjana Medvecká is joined in the main roles by actresses Vica Kerekes and Beáta Kaňoková. She also plays a character close to her own age who is going through a crisis related to motherhood.

Beáta Kaňoková about her role in the film Common Failure
“My character is a mother, she lives in a relationship with a woman, they have a child together, and she is going through such a crisis of her own identity. She may have the feeling that she is not a very good mother, she suffers from insomnia, she does not sleep much, and this also affects her behavior a lot,” described Kaňoková.
–
“When things start happening around her, inexplicable explosions, she awakens a great inner strength and starts fighting for herself and for the people around her. I think it’s a beautiful outcome of the character,” she added.
–
As the mother of a young daughter, she identifies in many ways with the character she took on as an actress. “I found myself in it. I think that many women go through a similar crisis of motherhood. It’s a big change for a woman when you’re suddenly a mother and you’re no longer on your own. I think that it still appears in some way in my life,” mentioned Kaňoková.
