Thirty-six-year-old Ovechkin already has 117 winning goals in his career and only one is missing from Phil Esposito in third place in the historical standings. Ovečkin also broke the Slovak club record Petra Bondru. At the age of 36 years and 70 days, he became the oldest Capitals player to score a hat-trick. The Slovak striker has held the record so far with the age of 35 years and 295 days.
The New York Islanders failed to correct the bad balance of the last matches, the islanders lost the eighth game in a row when they were not enough at home in Pittsburgh (0: 1).
