Taskforce Audi Brussels will meet on Friday

Prime Minister Alexander De Croo (Open VLD) confirmed on Monday that the task force around Audi Vorst will meet for the first time on Friday. “We will sit together with the various governments and management to investigate the future of the car factory,” said De Croo.

At the end of last month, the works council of Audi Vorst announced that it was terminating the contracts of all temporary employees due to the decreased demand for the electric Audi Q8 e-tron. The survival of the entire factory is also threatened, because the Q8 will no longer be made there from 2027.

The Prime Minister acknowledges that the circumstances for European car manufacturers are currently not easy, but emphasizes the assets of the factory in Forest.

The unions at Audi Brussels regret that they have not (yet) received an invitation to the task force. “However, we have sent several emails to the Prime Minister’s office,” says Jan Baetens, trade union representative of ACV-CSC Metea.

The factory restarted on Monday morning, after two weeks of economic unemployment. Production is very slow. Due to the disappearance of interim workers, work must be reorganized. “But despite a little nervousness, everything went smoothly,” says Baetens. (blg)
