Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The surge in positive cases of COVID-19 has occurred again. DKI Jakarta became the biggest contributor with a record that on Thursday (17/6/2021), there were 4,144 new cases.
Executive Secretary I of the Committee for Handling the Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN), Raden Pardede said the government was reviewing and considering implementing a lockdown per region, especially those in the red zone, such as DKI Jakarta.
“We will do a lockdown of a certain place. But at this time we are still doing a study and we will see the data in the last few days,” he told CNBC Indonesia, Friday (18/6/2021).
According to him, the decision to lock down cannot be taken lightly. Many things are taken into consideration by the government including input from business actors.
“We will see which data needs to be locked later and we will also fully coordinate with the army,” he explained.
However, before a decision regarding this lockdown is made, he also hopes that business actors and the public will comply with the latest tightening policy implemented by the government, namely working from home (WFH) of 75%.
“But it is clear that the 75% WFH decision has been complied with. This will reduce the spread of Covid-19,” he stressed.
