The Presena glacier, on the other hand, has lost a third of its mass since 1993 due to global warming-induced melting. With the linoleum application that started in 2008, 70 percent of the iceberg was preserved.
Besides all this, Presena was also damaged by algae that turned the white snow pink. Algae species known as Ancylonema nordenskioeldii absorb sunlight and accelerate glacial melting as it traps heat.
