The PS deputy asks Pap Ndiaye to waive the closure of 15 classes in the 1st degree at the start of the next school year “to take into account the specific school context of the department”. It lists several indicators showing that the Tarn-et-Garonne requires increased support and not closures of teaching posts.
In a press release, Valérie Rabault, MP for the 1st district, lists “the 4 reasons why classes should not be closed in Tarn-et-Garonne”. And the elected socialist to indicate that she “recently wrote to the Minister of National Education and Youth to ask him to waive the 15 closures of 1st degree classes announced by the academic inspectorate for the start of the 2023 school year in the Department “.
Among the reasons for not closing these classes, Valérie Rabault singles out four:
– the supervision rate for Tarn-et-Garonne schoolchildren remains one of the lowest in the departments of the Toulouse academy;
– 60% of the schools in the department have a social position index (IPS) below the national average (precisely, notes the MP, among the 15 classes whose closure has been announced, 8 are in schools with an IPS below the national average); – Tarn-et-Garonne has more children with disabilities attending school than the national average;
– the skills in mathematics and French for CP and CE1 are among the least solid in Tarn-et-Garonne compared to the departments of the Toulouse academy. »
Valérie Rabault reminds Pap Ndiaye that a meeting was held at Matignon on September 28, 2021 in the presence of the rector of the Toulouse academy and the Dasen of Tarn-et-Garonne, “following which it was agreed to develop a specific action plan for the department with regard to the school difficulties encountered. Following these exchanges as well as those with the Prime Minister (Editor’s note: Jean Castex) on the occasion of his visit to Tarn-et-Garonne on March 14, 2022, the general inspection of education, sport and research was commissioned in April 2022 to carry out an expert mission on the school difficulties identified in the department. »
Valérie Rabault knows well that, since this date, the tenant of Matignon has changed but she pleads with the Minister of Education to take into account “the specific school context of the department”.
