The family of Emmanuel Cueff whose funeral takes place Wednesday in Montauban denounces the political recovery that some are trying to make after the tragic death of the former paratrooper of the 17th RGP. The collective “Place d’Armes” has indeed called for “a khaki rally” Thursday, November 11 in Montauban. An initiative that the family does not endorse at all.
The funeral of Emmanuel Cueff, this former soldier who died at 49 years old following blows received in the parking lot of a restaurant in Montauban, will take place this Wednesday, November 10, at 2:30 p.m., in the Saint-Jean church of Villenouvelle. For Emmanuel’s wife, children, family and loved ones, it should be time for the preparations for this religious ceremony. Unfortunately, an unfortunate initiative disrupts this time of mourning.
A collective called Place d’Armes, which brings together retired soldiers, active and reservists, calls for a “khaki march” Thursday, November 11 in Montauban, between the Cours Foucault and the parking lot of the restaurant “Le Nautic”. “Emmanuel Cueff’s family is completely dissociated from this gathering and no one of the family will be present,” told La Dépêche a brother-in-arms of Master Corporal Cueff. The family denounces “the political recovery” that some are trying to make of this tragedy and calls for “dignity and respect in order to allow it to mourn”.
The intention of political recovery appears clearly in the press release posted by the Place d’Armes collective on social networks. The collective gives its own reading of the facts, indicating that Emmanuel Cueff would have been “beaten” by “several protagonists” even though in her statements to investigators, the wife of the deceased soldier indicated that only one individual had carried a punch and a kick, one of those blows causing the father of the family to fall whose head hit the edge of a sidewalk, with the consequences that we know.
This same collective mentions that “the culprits have still not been found by the police” believing to know that “the investigations meet certain obstacles”. However, since last Friday, the prosecutor’s office of Montauban opened a judicial information to the cabinet of the pole of the instruction. Now under the authority of a judge, “the investigations are moving forward and are continuing” indicated on Friday Laurent Czernik, prosecutor of the Republic of Montauban.
It remains to be seen whether the prefecture will authorize this gathering on November 11.
