Seven people were arrested in connection with a Guyanese network. They are suspected of having supplied the Tarn-et-Garonne with cocaine via Cayenne-Paris journeys.
It was a very organized sector with mules which carried up to 2.5 kg of cocaine per delivery and by plane flight between Cayenne and Paris to supply Tarn-et-Garonne: the gendarmes of the Montauban research brigade managed to dismantle it by arresting, this Monday, June 15 morning, seven people.
Five individuals were arrested in Montech, Montbartier and Montauban. Two heads of the network will also be picked up at the Montauban remand center, where they continued their activities since their imprisonment last year as part of a first case in Caussade. The homes of the suspects were searched by a large military device.
One year survey
Around one hundred grams of cocaine, € 92,000 in cash, a vehicle and several firearms (shotguns, Beretta pistols, other handguns, shotgun ammunition …) were seized during this vast operation called Pakira 82, carried out within the framework of a rogatory commission for cocaine trafficking, importation of narcotics and participation in a criminal association.
After the custody, the two people already imprisoned obviously returned to the remand center. Three other suspects, aged 20, 24 and 31, were also imprisoned on Wednesday after their presentation before the investigating judge at the Montauban judicial court. The investigators established that several trips between Cayenne and Paris, before arriving by car in Tarn-et-Garonne, had been operated.
This crackdown is the result of an investigation started last year from a file opened in Caussade. Lieutenant-Colonel Lauraire, head of the Montauban gendarmerie company, hails “a remarkable basic work carried out thanks to a perfect agreement between the BR of Montauban with the instruction center and the prosecutor’s office in Montauban”.
