Hamburg (dpa/lno) – The Verdi union has called on social workers at Fördern und Wohnen as well as at the Asklepios clinics and at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) to go on a one-day warning strike. The reason for the nationwide strike and action day on Monday is the current collective bargaining dispute with municipal employers in social and educational services. On Wednesday, the employees in the Hamburg daycare centers and on Thursday the employees of the handicapped aid should stop working.
The background to this is the ongoing collective bargaining for around 330,000 employees in the social and educational services in the municipal sector nationwide. Verdi calls for an improvement in working conditions, measures to counter the shortage of skilled workers and financial recognition of the work. The third round of negotiations is scheduled to begin on May 16 in Potsdam.
