Target Store in New York Set to Close Due to Rising Insecurity and Theft

The wave of insecurity and theft led the Target store to announce the closure of one of its branches in New York.

As part of a security strategy, the chain reported that it closed nine branches in 4 states of the country, one of them in the Big Apple.

The store that will close is the branch located at 517 117th Street in Harlem.

They assured that these closures were due to security issues.

“We cannot continue to operate these stores because retail theft and crime threaten the safety of our team and customers,” they said in a statement.

“Before making this decision we invested heavily in strategies to prevent and stop theft…unfortunately we continue to face challenges operating these stores.”

The closing will take place on October 21.

The store assured that it will offer workers the opportunity to transfer to another branch.

They added that they maintain another 96 branches open in the State.
