The specialized commission for the organization of care (CSOS) approved on November 9 the merger of the hospitals of Tarbes and Lourdes and validated the joint hospital project in Lanne. “This is bad news for the Tarbaises and the Tarbais”, believe the elect of Tarbes for all, Pierre Lagonelle, Selim Dagdad and Pierre Soulard.
“Until the end, we will have tried everything against this disastrous decision for our city,” indicates Pierre Lagonelle. First of all by voting against in the city council. “This decision by the mayor of Tarbes to close the hospital will surely remain as the indelible stain of his passage to the helm of our city”. Pierre Lagonelle indicates that he has tried to negotiate with the Ministry of Health to avoid the closure of the Tarbes site. The departmental delegate of the presidential candidate Macron has also alerted the presidency of the Republic to the matter. In vain. “We were told: even the mayor said yes. The ARS of Occitanie therefore won the decision”. The elected officials of Tarbes for all believe that the awakening will be painful for the people of Tarbes. “They will have to travel more than 10km away while the location of the current site is relevant. This represents, for emergencies, a loss of chance of survival.
Wasteland at the entrance to the city
The elected officials of Tarbes pour tous then indicate the bill for the ordinance that the taxpayers of Tarbes will have to pay, but not only them. “The Municipalities – agglomeration, department and region – will have to finance the development of water and sanitation networks, roads and accesses, public transport”. Finally, after the loss of the hospital, cost to taxpayers, they believe that the closure of the current site which will leave a desert at the entrance to the city, is a “triple sword for the Tarbais”. At the moment there is no conversion solution for the La Gespe site. They also add that the French blood center and nursing school will remain in their current location. “The surveillance of the site of the current hospital will amount to €200,000 a year” they underline for all those elected in Tarbes. The commissioning of the common hospital of Lanne is scheduled between July and December 2028. The elected officials of Tarbes pour tous were in favor of the construction of a new common hospital on the current site of La Gespe.
