Tarantino documentary first film with an 18+ rating Kijkwijzer | NOW

QT8, the documentary about the work and life of director Quentin Tarantino, will be the first cinema film to receive the new Kijkwijzer classification for eighteen years and older. That reports Show news Friday.

That the documentary about the director – known among others from Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglorious Basterds in Kill Bill – is only intended for an 18+ audience, is striking. This is because all scenes from the feature films that will be shown in the film have previously been classified by Kijkwijzer for age sixteen and older.

In addition to the existing age classifications (all ages, 6+, 9+, 12+ and 16+), Kijkwijzer introduced two new recommendations at the beginning of this year. For example, a film can now also be considered suitable for a target group from the age of fourteen or from the age of eighteen. NICAM, the organization behind Kijkwijzer, did this because “in the current media offering, more than ever before, a nuanced classification is required for intense content and images”.

Target groups can be better defined by the new age recommendations. For example, films that are too intense for twelve-year-olds, but that are not so intense that they should only be available to sixteen-year-olds, can now be given a better recommended age. Movies containing extreme violence or porn can now be labeled 18+, while they were initially recommended for viewers over the age of 16.

QT8 can be seen in Dutch cinemas from October 1. The Pathé cinema chain will be organizing previews of the documentary in the coming weeks.
