DEPOK – The Service Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Tapos Health Center appealed to residents to be alert to standing water. This is because standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes that cause dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).
Head of UPTD Tapos Health Center, Trisna Setiawan said Depok City is now entering the rainy season where the potential for dengue disease which is transmitted through the Aedes Aegypti mosquito carrying the dengue virus is very high.
For this reason, his party invites the public to be aware of puddles of residual rain, including routinely cleaning sewer water which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
“We appeal to residents that if many mosquito larvae are found, follow-up actions will be carried out, such as distributing abate powder to fumigation or fogging. In addition, don’t forget to always clean places that are mosquito nests, such as gutters and puddles of rain water,” he said, Thursday (28/10).
In addition, he also reminded local residents to routinely check the cleanliness of garbage dumps, cans, soil basins, and others.
He hopes that awareness of maintaining environmental cleanliness must continue to be strengthened as an anticipatory step to prevent dengue and other infectious diseases.
“Therefore, movements are needed to create a clean and healthy environment. For example, people can work together to clean the environment and repair waterways,” he explained.
