For the Hamburg band Tonbandgeräte there were new firsts when working on their new album and after 17 years as a band together. «We recorded the album for the first time in Hamburg. We are a Hamburg band and have been making studio productions for ages and have never been to Hamburg,” said guitarist and songwriter Sophia Poppensieker to the German Press Agency.

“It was amazing that you could just go home after a day like that. I think it was good for us to get a little distance from the songs.” Songwriting has also changed, says singer Ole Specht, who writes together with Poppensieker. «We used to hardly talk about the topics of the songs. That was completely different now. Sophia and I met regularly to write. We found a really good way,” said Specht.

Countless songs were created. Ten of them made it onto the fourth studio album “Another Life,” which was released on Friday. There was also something new about its production in the Hanseatic city. “This time we don’t have a big label behind us or big promotional agencies. We said, we’ll make this album, we know how to do it and we’ll do it ourselves,” said Poppensieker. An album was created with producer Felix Gerlach that combines relevant topics with catchy melodies.
