The Rhein-Main Dance Festival has to change its program because artists are not allowed to enter. The festival planning is pending until further notice.
The motto describes the situation quite aptly: “Fragile balances”. Just as the balance was upset in all areas of life by the virus, the Rhein-Main dance festival, which starts on Friday and runs until November 15, has to be readjusted at short notice due to Corona. As the Rhein-Main dance platform announced, “new program developments” occurred in the fifth edition of the festival in the wake of the increasing number of infections everywhere. The curator Anna Wagner and curator Bruno Heynderichx informed about this in a digital press conference, to which the following words were invited: “The situation remains dynamic, the festival planning is in the balance.”
The prelude is already affected: Due to the regulations that apply to entry from France as a Covid 19 risk area, the company Yoann Bourgeois had to give its guest performance “Attempted approach to a vertex of suspension” from October 30th to November 1st at the Darmstadt State Theater Cancel “with great regret”. Richard Siegal and the Ballet of Difference at the Schauspiel Köln step in with the piece “New Ocean Sea Cycle”, in which an algorithm that determines the melting of the ice in the polar seas is translated into choreographic acts. Anyone who already has tickets for the production of Yoann Bourgeois will be contacted by the Staatstheater Darmstadt and invited to swap tickets for one of Richard Siegal’s two performances on October 30th and 31st. If you don’t want that, you can choose a ticket voucher that is valid for three years.
The guest performance “Birds (Work in Progress)” and the associated workshop on Saturday, November 14th, in the zoo company building in Frankfurt will also be canceled due to the increasing number of infections in Belgium. “1001 Sorrys” from Brands, Sistig & Steinmair is listed as a replacement. Already booked free tickets for “Birds” expire, the audience can get new tickets for “1001 Sorrys”.
In addition, the play “Fly!” By Markéta Stránská, which was planned as part of the double evening with “Spiritual Boyfriends” by Núria Guiu Sagarra on November 12th and 13th at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden, has been canceled. The reason for this is also the increased number of Covid 19 cases, this time in the Czech Republic. The one-hour piece “Spiritual Boyfriends” is now shown alone.
