Tanzanian President Dies, While Alive in Defiance of Covid-19

DAR ES SALAM, KOMPAS.TV Tanzanian Vice President Samia Suluhu announced the death of President John Magufuli, Wednesday (17/3/2021). During his life, he was known to be a skeptic of Covid-19.

The vice president said that Magufuli died in a hospital in Dar es Salaam, which is the capital and largest city in Tanzania. He was 61 years old when he died.

“Dear citizens, it is with great sadness that I inform you that today, on March 17, 2021, at around 6 pm we have lost our courageous leader, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, the Honorable Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli who has died of heart disease at the Mzena hospital in Dar es Salam where he is receiving treatment, “said Tanzanian Vice President Samia Suluhu as quoted from The Associated Press.

The previous Magufuli had been out of the public eye for quite some time. He has not appeared in public since late February and top government officials have denied that he is in poor health.

Magufuli is one of the most prominent Covid-19 deniers in Africa. Last year he said that Tanzania had eradicated Covid-19 through three days of national prayer.
