Tantalus would love to bring The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to Switch

In March it was already revealed that the sequel to Breath of the Wild has been postponed to 2023, leaving fans wondering if Nintendo will do anything with this popular action, adventure franchise this year. Switch ports of The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD is an idea that comes up often in these conversations. The original remakes of these two much-loved Zelda games appeared on the WiiU in 2013 and 2016. The remakes made by Grezzo (Wind Waker) and Tantalus (Twilight Princess) were both very well received by fans and critics.

But because they didn’t sell the Wii U like hotcakes, there are still a lot of people who haven’t played these games yet. They therefore beg for ports from these ports. Now Tantulus has CEO Tom Crago on an episode of the podcast Fragments of Silicon expressed interest in porting Twilight Princess to the Switch. However, Nintendo hasn’t asked them for this yet.

Of course we’d love to do that (Zelda Twilight Princess HD), but that’s not yet a priority for Nintendo or at least not in the conversation they had with us.

How it works is that we take every opportunity to work on one of their titles. Our two companies are in constant dialogue. There is often a bit of time between titles and there may be other ideas going around. But in the case of Skyward Sword, some time passes and the email arrives: “would you be interested in porting Skyward Sword to the Switch?” The answer to this is, of course, “yes, of course”. And then there’s our conversation with Nintendo about what that might look like. It was similar in many ways to how Twilight Princess HD came about for the Wii U.

A Switch port of Twilight Princess HD is therefore not yet available. Hopefully this is a different story with The Wind Waker. Are you waiting for Switch ports of Twilight Princess or The Wind Waker? Or would you rather these studios work on (Zelda) games that have not been transferred before? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
