After the death of Cologne tanning salon operator Phil G., the Cologne public prosecutor’s office published new details about the homicide. The 74-year-old died as a result of “massive violence” to the upper body, such as kicks. Phil G., founder of the “California Sun” tanning salons, was found dead on Wednesday in his villa in the Hahnwald district of Cologne.
When asked by t-online on Thursday, senior public prosecutor Ulrich Bremer said: “The very extensive securing and evaluation of evidence is still in full swing.” It has not yet been conclusively clarified whether valuables were stolen from the “California Sun” founder’s property.
One clue could be possible video recordings of the perpetrators from the neighborhood; there are surveillance cameras on many buildings along the street. Senior Public Prosecutor Bremer: “Camera recordings from the neighborhood are currently being analyzed. Witnesses in the area around the deceased are also being questioned.”
Forensics also discovered the cell phone of the deceased tanning salon founder at the crime scene. It should also be evaluated for clues that could help clarify the crime. “No further information can be made public at the moment in order not to jeopardize the investigation,” the public prosecutor’s office continued. It is unclear when the forensics will be completed.
Phil G. founded the tanning salon chain “California Sun” more than 44 years ago, which according to its own information operates more than 44 locations in Cologne and the region. There are now said to be more than 80 studios worldwide, including branches in Russia and Ukraine.
