It remains unclear who is behind the attack
Attackers seized a tanker linked to Israel off the coast of Aden, Yemen, the Associated Press reported, citing operator and maritime security company Ambrey.
“The vessel with a Turkish captain has a multinational crew consisting of Russian, Vietnamese, Bulgarian, Indian, Georgian and Filipino nationals. The vessel is carrying a full cargo of phosphoric acid,” the Zodiac operator said in a statement.
Although no group has claimed responsibility for the act so far, at least two other naval attacks in recent days have been linked to the war between Israel and Hamas.
The attackers seized the tanker “Central Park” of the operating company “Zodiac Maritime” in the Gulf of Aden, the company and the private intelligence firm “Ambrey” announced. A US defense official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that such an attack had taken place.
Zodiac Maritime called the attack a “suspected piracy-related incident”.

Zodiac describes the vessel as owned by Clumvez Shipping Inc, although other documents directly list Zodiac Maritime as the owner.
It remains unclear who is behind the attack. Aden is held by forces allied to Yemen’s internationally recognized government and the Saudi-led coalition fighting Iran-backed Houthi rebels. In theory, this part of the Gulf of Aden is under the control of these forces and is quite far from Houthi-controlled territory in the country. In addition, Somali pirates are not known to operate in this area, AP notes.
