The crews of T-80BV tanks from the Western Military District prevented an attempt to break through the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) in one of the sections of the Kupyan direction. This is what the Russian Ministry of Defense said.

“The enemy is trying to test counteroffensive options in this area; it is too tactically important. A Ukrainian tank rushes towards the intersection. And this is the effectiveness of a closed fire position for our machines. Without direct fire, but according to the coordinates of the front line gunners, which the crew receives in real time, our ammunition is placed under the tracks of enemy vehicles. The attempt to penetrate the facility was once again unsuccessful,” the message also said.
The Russian Ministry of Defense specified that the crews of the T-80BV tanks acted in the front lines of the enemy’s defenses, in order for the Russian motorized rifle units to advance.
During the special operation, Russian tank crews actively used artillery fire, directing fire from indirect positions. “The advantage of the tactic is that the tank can work as artillery, that is, from a closed position at long distances. In our case, this is a range of 7 to 9 km. We are working on coordinates. And through communications, they either give us a correction, or we get there and hit the same point – the same point. We’re getting there. There is a result. It can be done in different ways – accumulation of equipment, accumulation of manpower”, said the tank commander.
