Tangshan News (Correspondent Yang Yikun) On September 11, 2023, the youth group chess competition of the 16th Hebei Province Sports Games concluded at the Longshan Hotel in Shexian County, Handan. This competition is hosted by the Hebei Provincial People’s Government, hosted by the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau and the Handan Municipal People’s Government, and co-organized by the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau Chess and Cards Sports Center, Handan Municipal Sports Bureau, and the Shexian County People’s Government. The competition events are divided into Group A and Group B. The two groups are divided into three categories: men’s individual, women’s individual, and mixed team. A total of 134 athletes from 11 units participated in the competition, using group round-robin competition and cross-elimination qualifying. Tangshan Sports Bureau sent a total of 14 athletes to participate.
After four days of fierce competition, 6 athletes from the Tangshan team entered the finals and finally won 1 silver and 2 bronze. Lu Ziyi and Han Shize won the runner-up and third place respectively in the men’s group A. The Tangshan team composed of Qi Zhenhan, Kang Biao and Zhang Jingyi won the third place in the mixed team group B. Yao Siyu ranked fourth in the women’s group B individual group. The Tangshan team won fourth place in the overall team score in this competition.
It is reported that four athletes who won the prizes in this competition are from No. 54 Middle School in our city, namely Qi Zhenhan, Class 3, Grade 7, South Campus, Zhang Jingyi, Class 4, Grade 7, Han Shize, Class 7, Grade 8 from the main campus, and Yao Siyu, Class 14, Grade 7 (From left to right are Qi Zhenhan, Zhang Jingyi, Yao Siyu, and Han Shize).
