Tango Gameworks officially without a leader. Bethesda confirms Shinji Mikami’s departure

information was shared by all the major media, so Bethesda decided not to bury its head in the sand, and we received official confirmation – the message is quite laconic, but it confirms that Tango Gameworks will lose its leader.

“We can confirm that Shinji Mikami has decided to leave Tango Gameworks in the coming months. We thank him for his work as a creative leader and supportive mentor to young developers on The Evil Within, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and of course Hi-Fi RUSH. We wish Mikami all the best in the future and are excited to see what lies ahead for the talented developers at Tango.”

It’s hard to say why Shinji Mikami left his ship, but it’s worth noting that Bethesda described the creator as a “creative leader” and “mentor” for young developers on three IPs (The Evil Within, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Hi-Fi Rush).

Phil Spencer also added a few words:

“Thank you @shinji_mikami for your leadership and your great contribution to the industry. Your tips and information over the past 2 years have been valuable to me. I look forward to our continued friendship and look forward to what @tango_jpn has in store for us.”

Hi-Fi Rush can be described as the studio’s greatest success, and as we know, Shinji Mikami was not one of the main developers responsible for the production. We can suspect that Tango Gameworks will easily survive the changes and we will probably learn more plans of the Japanese studio in the future.
