Tangier hosts the 16th Mediterranean Forum of Women Entrepreneurs

The city of Tangier will host, on October 3 and 4, the 16th edition of the Mediterranean Forum of Women Entrepreneurs (MEDAWOMEN), under the theme “From the Mediterranean to the world, female leadership without borders.”

In this regard, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (CCIS-TTA) and the Association of Women Business Leaders of Morocco in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (AFEM-TTA) organized, on Tuesday in Tangier, a press conference dedicated to the presentation of the program of this regional economic event.

The aim of this forum is to bring together women-led businesses from Mediterranean countries, as well as representatives of government institutions, economic actors, decision-makers, financial institutions, civil society organisations active in the economic field, academics and people interested in development issues in the Mediterranean region, in order to promote the exchange of experiences in women’s entrepreneurship in the region.

This event also aims to strengthen the spirit of initiative and promote the integration of innovation, the digital economy, as well as the ecological dimension, the social economy and fair trade within women’s businesses.

In this regard, he noted that this edition provides a platform to discuss the challenges faced by women-led businesses, as well as to explore prospects for development and cooperation within the framework of economic partnerships between the public and private sectors, noting that “this edition consolidates efforts aimed at strengthening the position of women in the economic field and creating an environment conducive to supporting women’s projects, by promoting innovation, the digital economy and sustainable development.”

“We are proud to hold this economic forum, for the first time, in Morocco, and more precisely in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region,” stressed the president of AFEM-TTA, Chaibia Balbzioui Alaoui, specifying that this event will be an opportunity to debate current economic developments, particularly in terms of digital transformation and the green economy, which companies are now required to take into account.

Mrs. Balbzioui also said that “the world, and in particular the Mediterranean countries, are closely following the economic progress achieved by the Kingdom, and the forum will be an opportunity to highlight the pioneering Moroccan experiences of Moroccan women entrepreneurs.”

“Through this meeting, we aim to strengthen Morocco’s economic attractiveness with a view to hosting the 2030 World Cup, which will be co-organized with Spain and Portugal, thus promoting the achievements made, thanks to the clear-sighted vision of HM King Mohammed VI,” she continued.

It is worth noting that the forum will address, through three thematic sessions, key topics, such as “Women in the digital age: Advancing business”, “Women’s businesses in Morocco… Leadership without borders”, as well as Mediterranean successes in the field of traditional and industrial cosmetics.
