Entering the rainy season starting from low intensity to high intensity in Tangerang Regency, the local Health Office (Dinkes) urges the public to be aware of lurking diseases, especially currently still in the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Tangerang District Health Office, dr. Hendra Tarmizi said entering the rainy season is synonymous with several types of diseases such as coughs, colds and diarrhea. However, at this time the thing to watch out for and pay close attention to is dengue hemorrhagic fever.
“This disease, which is caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, arises due to the large amount of standing water. Stagnant water is the best place for mosquito larvae to grow and breed,” he said in Tangerang Regency, Monday (18/10).
He explained that dengue fever has the potential to cause death. Of course, people of all ages can be affected by the disease. “All ages can potentially get dengue fever, but the age of children causes a high mortality rate, because children tend to not have maximum immunity,” he explained.
According to him, to prevent the development of mosquitoes, it is necessary to eradicate mosquito nests (PSN) through the 3M movement, namely closing, draining and burying objects that can hold clean water.
“So entering this rainy season, our vigilance must be increased. Besides Covid-19, no less important is dengue,” he said. (DHE/RUL
