Tangerang City Health Bureau: Be aware of dengue fever in the rainy season

Tangerang (ANTARA) – The Tangerang Banten City Health Bureau has asked the public to be aware of an increase in dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases following the arrival of the rainy season through environmental sanitation.

“There is an increase in cases, even if it is not significant, but we still have to be careful because there is a rather large movement of people during the Christmas and New Year holidays going to their cities,” said the Tangerang chief City Health Service Dr. Dini Anggraeni in Tangerang on Monday (2/1).

He said that this increase in mobility has risks or there are also people traveling on vacation to malaria-endemic areas.

“This disease is transmitted both by mosquitoes. This requires special attention, attention and protection together. With the current weather conditions, people should pay more attention to their health and immunity. Check yourself immediately, if there is a fever high that “goes up and down. Get tested immediately at the nearest health service,” she said.

He also shared DHF prevention tips that the people of Tangerang city can do, including installing mosquito nets or screens in the vents on the doors or windows of the house so that the mosquitoes from outside do not enter the house . Then install screens to prevent mosquitoes from sneaking in at dusk, when the mosquitoes start to come out.

“Protect yourself with a mosquito repellent lotion or cream, if you can take it everywhere you go. Fourth, diligently drain the tub or bucket of water once a week, because it can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, because the Aedes aegypti mosquito can lay its eggs in the tub. Fifth, clean all containers that hold water to break the mosquito cycle, such as water dispensers, flower pots, and so on,” she said.

People are also advised not to pile or hang clothes for too long, this causes mosquitoes to go down frequently because mosquitoes like the smell of the human body. Another way is to plant mosquito repellent plants, such as lavender, papermint, lemongrass persimmon.

“Make sure you maintain your immune system, so you don’t get sick easily, including dengue fever. Eat regularly and consume vitamins and minerals, for example from vegetables, fruits or dietary supplements. Other than that, exercise regularly, like 30 minutes a day, you can jog, ride a bike, and also make sure you get enough rest or sleep,” she said.
